Objective was to understand basics of urban design, their terminologies, study, methods of documentation, survey techniques, analysis & methods of presentation through the study of selected commons with a peculiar socio-cultural, historical identity & hence physical characteristics.
Commons selected were: Blue, Greens & Browns of Nagpur City
Greens: Parks, Gardens, green open spaces etc.
Blues: Lakes, artificial tanks, Baolis, River etc.
Browns: Play grounds, open grounds, vacant lands, stadiums, dumping grounds etc.
The Aim was: Envisioning the future growth of urban commons & giving a holistic design solution for the sustenance of the commons.
Important Aspects: Mapping techniques for the city, identifying & analyzing urban commons of the city, understanding critical issues, measures taken till date, ownership pattern, landuse pattern, public use, aspirations of the people, needs of the city people Connectivity, Services, Urban Spaces, Typology, Socio-Cultural & Economical aspects.
